I’m loving the Michael Aram home collection! I’m going to treat myself to some of these items! Especially the cake stand, trivet, and a platter or two. Love them!

Michael Aram is available at most department stores.

Last night I made duck for the first time! I bought duck breasts from Eataly.. their meat department is amazing! I also picked up some yummy wines from their wine shop. Can’t wait to try them.

Loving my gel manicure!!
I got a gel manicure for the first time this past Saturday (at Bloomie Nails) and I just might be hooked! This manicure is pricey ($50) but it is supposed to last over two weeks without chipping. If the polish stays and it helps my nails grow, I’ll be sold. So far, so good!

I just invested in some beautiful L’Objet photo frames. I’ve been wanting them for a long time. They are GORGEOUS… pricey, but gorgeous.

I picked up the Gold Braid Frame in 8X10 ($210) and 5X7 ($150), along with the Gold Garland Frame in 5X7 ($275). This is such a great special occasion gift idea! I’m thinking of getting the Platinum Garland Frame as a gift for a very special girlfriend. They are so pretty!

Looking to make a great chili but short on time? Try using this Simply Organic Chili Mix (I buy this at Whole Foods). It makes your chili so tasty and has a really nice flavor! You can find my chili recipe here. I actually make this chili a lot… (maybe once every 2-3 weeks) altering the type of meat and sausage I use. Lately I’ve been making a low carb version with ground white meat turkey, chorizo and port sausage (2 types) and without the beans… Feel free to make this with different types of sausage… it adds some different flavors! Vegetarians can make this with beans and vegetarian sausage. Don’t forget to add the chopped onions and fresh grated cheese at the end (I usually get a high quality sharp cheddar). You can even serve this in a bread bowl. Yummy!!

Holiday Gift Idea!!

Here is a holiday gift idea I’m just loving!! Many sites online offer beer, wine, and chocolate of the month clubs!! My family got the wine of the month club for John last year and he just loved it! Every month we got new bottles of wine in the mail. They even offer a cigar and cheese of the month clubs! I like the Wine of the Month Club best (with red wine only)! This gift is PERFECT for the holidays, but they are also great gifts for your wedding party! What guy wouldn’t love beer coming to their home every month!

Many sites offer this, but here is one with many offerings! This is the one we received last year.

Lunch today @ Eataly!

Today, I ventured up to the flatiron district to visit a friend at Eataly, Mario Batali’s new 50,000-square-foot space filled with a food and wine marketplace, along with multiple restaurants (both sit down and takeout) in the flatiron district. Eataly has a supermarket full of fresh pastas, meat, cheeses, gelato, pizza, seafood and more! Everything looked and tasted delicious! Some of my purchases are in the photos! I LOVE my mini pumpkins!!!! :) The Prosciutto de Parma was among the best I’ve had!

Eataly, 200 5th Ave, New York, NY 10010

Best Pick-up spots in NYC! (And not just bars!!)As a NYC veteran, I’ve either been single or had exposure to single friends for a long time.  Some people I know have met in strange ways- on the subway, in a bookstore, etc. Personally, I have rarely met people in those scenarios. It seems that on those occasions, there is rarely enough time to really have a conversation with someone and often it’s very intimidating to approach someone in those circumstances. These are some of the best ways I’ve seen, to meet singles in my area. If you are outside NYC, many of them will likely relate to your area too!Summer/ Winter SharesSummer/Winter shares are a fantastic way to meet new people! At most share houses, you are often surrounded by many new people and you often spend your weekends with them… going to dinners, bars, or just hanging out at the house. The quality and age range of a share can really differ- some of them being much nicer than others. But, in most cases you almost always leave the summer or winter with new friends and/or romances! I met 3 very good friends of mine from a Bridgehampton share I did 3 years ago. One of them left with a serious boyfriend. In my opinion, it was worth every penny!  In the winter, Killington VT is a good option, and in the summer the Hamptons, Montauk, and/or Fire Island are all great.Play a Fun SportNYC young professionals can join casual sports games through ZogSports, or other organizations. They have fun activities like dodge ball (if you don’t mind getting pegged!), kickball, and they even have wine tastings. Many of the teams go for drinks after games and ZogSports always has events and parties.Add some adventure!Organizations, such as Outdoor Bound, have fun adventurous day trips in or near NYC. Some of them include White Water Rafting, Outdoor Photography trips, and hiking.Take a Yoga ClassMore and more men (especially serious athletes, such as triathletes, runners, etc.) are starting to take yoga classes. This is a great way to meet someone because often you will see them over and over.If you must go to a bar…If you want to meet someone at a bar, try going somewhere laid back, such as a beer garden, and don’t go too late when people are already drunk! You want to make your connection early so people have time to remember you. The Standard is probably the best beer garden pick-up spot.Online DatingI am actually a big fan of online dating. You have to learn how to weed out the players, weirdos, etc., but if you can, I think it’s the wave of the future for dating. Many of my friends have met their significant others online.

Yummy Train Journey Snacks!
For our train trip to Montauk, I am always looking for delicious snacks that travel well for the ride. Since it’s around dinner time when we go, I like to bring pleanty of foods on the train, that are also filling enough, since we often don’t really have time for a proper meal.
This trip, I brought Terroirs d’Antan Mousse Truffe Pate with toasted bread, delicious prosciutto de parma, manchego and aged gouda cheeses, and a bottle of pinot noir. The meal was easy to travel with, filling, and so tasty!
